Odds variation on betting

Since the betting companies are increasing and multiplying, variations in the odds of the games are also increasing. In several cases the changes are great. Something reasonable, as the time until the first whistle of the referee can be long. The reason of course is not only a mistake of these companies but also the extent of the money bet in this game.

For example, if an odd of 2.00 for a home win gathers large amounts of money, the sportsbooks will react immediately to reduce the odd to a large extent to “cover his back”. It can happen also vice-versa (players are betting on visitors win and 2.00 is increased to 2.20 etc.). Some crucial questions arise in these cases. Do players around the world know something that I don’t? If the odd drops it means that is more possible for it to come?

Rafa Benitez: Mata is one of the best

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez heaped praise on Spanish star Juan Mata after his goal secured a 1-0 win at Norwich City to keep the Blues in the Premier League title hunt.

Mata's strike, his sixth in his last eight games, was enough to earn Chelsea the three points at Carrow Road, with Benitez's men 11 points adrift of Manchester United with a game in hand.

Benitez said of his compatriot: "He is playing really well. Even without the ball he is working hard, but when we are in possession he is making the difference.

Rodgers warns of quiet January

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has warned the club's fans there will not be a huge number of new arrivals in the January transfer window.

Rodgers' side sit 10th in the Premier League table, level on points with Norwich, and are eight off fourth-placed Spurs. The Reds have been linked with moves for Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge and Blackpool's Tom Ince, but it seems that will be the limit of their transfer window dealings.

"We won't be overly busy in January but some reinforcements will be nice, just the addition of some firepower to help us at the top end of the field," admitted Rodgers, whose side are 12/1 to finish in the top four.

Rafael Benitez: Chelsea can get better

Rafael Benitez says Chelsea can still improve, despite putting eight goals past Aston Villa without reply on Sunday.

Seven different players scored for the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Benitez's first home league win as manager, and they could even afford for Lucas Piazon to miss a penalty.

Chelsea are now 11 points behind league leaders Manchester United but are 12/1 to win the title, while United can be backed at 8/15.

Downing wants Liverpool stay

Stewart Downing hopes his current form will force Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to change his mind about letting him leave the club in January.

Rodgers had revealed earlier in the season he was open to offers for the England international in the transfer window. However, Downing has proved in recent weeks he has something to offer the Anfield side, scoring his first Premier League goal for the Reds against Fulham on Saturday.

Liverpool travel to Stoke on Boxing Day and are 11/2 to come away with a 1-0 win, while a 1-1 draw can be backed at 5/1.
