Rafael Benitez: Chelsea can get better

Rafael Benitez says Chelsea can still improve, despite putting eight goals past Aston Villa without reply on Sunday.

Seven different players scored for the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Benitez's first home league win as manager, and they could even afford for Lucas Piazon to miss a penalty.

Chelsea are now 11 points behind league leaders Manchester United but are 12/1 to win the title, while United can be backed at 8/15.

"The main thing is to win our games. You can do that if you can see the team improving. I'm sure it (the title race) will be closer. We'll try to be as close as possible, but you can see the mentality of the team; even after six goals they were still pushing forward for more," said Benitez.

"I can see the team improving the little things we wanted to improve, but still we can improve some things and I say that after winning by eight."

Frank Lampard's second-half strike means he is now Chelsea's all-time top scorer in the top flight and the 34-year-old was thrilled to break a long-standing record.

"I've been fortunate to play for a great club," said the midfielder.

"I'm very proud of that goals record, to beat a great man such as Bobby (Tambling) who is an absolute legend and a lovely bloke, it means everything."

The Blues are 8/13 to beat Norwich on Boxing Day at Carrow Road, and are 11/8 to keep a clean sheet.
