Alan Pardew: We need to make sure we are a Premier League team next season.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is hoping to sign at least one more player this month to ensure his side remain in the Premier League next season.

The Magpies suffered a 2-0 defeat at Brighton in the third round of the FA Cup, with Pardew fielding an inexperienced line-up due to a number of injury absentees.

Afterwards, Pardew, who has already snapped up France defender Mathieu Debuchy this week, now wants to bring in at least one more reinforcement.

With his side just two points clear of the dropzone, Pardew warned: "We need to make sure we are a Premier League team next season. We're not too big to go down and we accept that.

"We know we need to get some bigger players who can handle the situation of carrying a Newcastle jersey, whether that's a signing or getting a player back from injury.

"It's important to spend during this month. I'd like to see another player come in through the door to join Mathieu Debuchy in the next week or so.

"It's difficult to get transfers in this window, but we'll have to do everything possible."

Next up for Newcastle is a trip to Norwich City next Saturday, with the Magpies 12/5 to win at Carrow Road and 12/5 to secure a draw, while the hosts are 11/10 to take all three points.
