Sir Alex Ferguson: We need a Nani.

Portugal international Nani will not be sold in the January transfer window, according to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old who has struggled to retain a regular starting spot in Ferguson's team this season.

His last appearance came almost two months ago in the Champions League victory at Braga.

Nani joined United from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2007 for £25million and has gone on to score 25 goals in 131 Premier League appearances for the club.

United are 4/11 to win the Premier League title this season, 13/2 to clinch the FA Cup and 14/1 to claim the Champions League.

Ferguson said of Nani, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem: "We won't be letting him go. We need a Nani.

"His contract isn't up for a year-and-a-half. He offers something different from the other players. He's an incredible talent, the boy. Unfortunately, he's injured at the moment. We have sent him over to Dubai for a break, to help him in his recovery.

"He's not far away but he's far enough away. I don't think I will get him until the middle of January. He's got a future here. Why would I want to let him go?"
